Strawberry Skin Glaze Smoothie Recipe
Ingredients
- ½ medium banana, frozen
- ¾ cup of strawberries, frozen
- ½ cup almond milk
- 1/3 ripe avocado
- 1 medjool date, pitted
- 1 scoop NatureWise Collagen Peptides
- ½ tbsp maple syrup
- ¼ tsp vanilla extract* see note
- ¼ cup coconut cream
For Strawberry Glaze
- 2 tbsp strawberry jam
- 1 tbsp warm water
Instructions
- First, start by mixing strawberry jam of choice with a little bit of warm water to make the strawberry glaze. Set aside.
- Blend together the scoop of collagen peptides with almond milk first to avoid clumping.* See notes.
- After the collagen peptides are blended thoroughly into the liquid, add frozen banana, strawberries, dates, avocado, vanilla extract and maple syrup.
- To assemble, add strawberry glaze to the bottom of the cup and around the edges, then spoon your coconut cream along the edges of the cup. Pour in the smoothie and enjoy.
Notes
Vanilla extract is optional, but the more popular recipe uses vanilla-flavored collagen powder and vanilla stevia. Our recipe uses unflavored collagen powder and omits the stevia (it’s already very sweet), so a touch of vanilla may give it a more rounded flavor profile.
Collagen powder is prone to clumping, especially in the presence of ice or frozen fruits. To avoid having collagen clumps in your smoothie, you should blend it first with the almond milk, and then add the frozen fruits to the blender.
